St Helens forward Alex Walmsley is believed to be one of the hottest names on both the Super League and NRL markets, with the England International in high demand.
St Helens are desperate in their bid to save one of the best power forwards in the Super League and are hoping loyalty will play a part in his decision to remain at the club and sign a long-term contract.
Walmsley, 27, is the subject of much media speculation about what will happen after his current deal with St Helens, which ends at the end of the season.
The England international admitted that he hopes to make a decision on his playing future quickly as possible.
“There are a lot of conversations to have with a lot of different people,” said Walmsley.
“It’s a big decision for my family, too. It’s not just a conversation I’ll have with one person – there will be hundreds of people I’ll be talking to. There’s obviously some interest there and some speculation, but right now, that’s all it is. When things become clearer I’m sure it’ll be very easy to talk about it and discuss it.
“Ideally you want things sorted sooner, rather than later, and it’s no different for me.” Walmsley added.
It is believed there has been strong offers tabled from NRL clubs, with the St George Illwarra’s believed to be leading the chase, as English team mates Gareth Widdop and new Dragon James Graham may have a influence on his decision if he elects to Join the NRL
It is reported that the Dragons have offered Walmsley a deal worth upwards of $750,000 per season from 2019 and beyond. Walmsley is believed to have agreed to the deal in principle, but now deciding if the move down under is the best for him and his young family.
Walmsley is expected to make his decision within the coming weeks, but will need to be at his best
