It is has been reported that Canterbury Bulldogs are still struggling with salary cap issues just two weeks from the start of the season, which could result in another one of their stars leaving the Kennel.
Bulldogs veteran Aiden Tolman has been shopped around by the Bulldogs over the past few weeks and it is understood the Gold Coast Titans are showing genuine interest in the 29-year-old.
It is believed the Bulldogs could release Tolman and the Titans will sign him effective immediately with funds made available from Jarryd Hayne departing the club for Parramatta.
The Newcastle Knights were among the clubs sounded out to see if there was any interest in Tolman.
But Knights coach Nathan Brown confirmed Tolman was not a target with the club happy to bide its time to find the right player.
“Aiden’s been a good, tough, consistent player for a long time for the Bulldogs and from what I hear, an outstanding person to have around a club,”Brown said.
“But at this stage of his career, he is probably not the type of player we are looking for.
“It’s fair to say we are after another one or two middle forwards who are a bit more dynamic and quick on their feet and powerful.
“But we are happy with who we have so we are waiting for the right player.”
This leaving the Titans in the box seat to sign Tolman a 211 game veteran before season kick-off.
