Chris Sandow is understood to be in fresh talks with St George-Illawarra after the ACL injury to Drew Hutchison.
It is believed that the Dragons have reached out to Chris Sandow’s manager and are talking numbers for the 2017 season.
Dragons young halfback Drew Hutchison will be sidelined for the majority of the season after suffering a serious knee injury during training at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Thursday.
“Unfortunately, Drew has ruptured his ACL during training on Thursday that will see him require surgery,” said Dragons Head of Athletic Performance Nathan Pickworth.
“There are a lot of upset faces amongst the playing group and football staff as a result and we are all shattered for him.
“Drew had undertaken a simple ball-work drill and there was a collision amongst some of the players involved and unfortunately his foot got caught in the ground.”
Josh McCrone is a possible candidate to replace Hutchison and partner Gareth Widdop in the halves, something that they have done before, but with very little success. Now it is believed the Dragons want Chris Sandow and believe they can get him for a discounted price.
Chris Sandow walked out of Warrington Wolves at the end of the 2016 season, returning to Australia for Christmas break, but informed the club shortly after his arrival back in Australia they he will not be returning to England to honour his contract, which ran until the end of the 2017 season.
More to come…..
