Manly Sea Eagles Hooker set to Sign with Leeds

Manly Sea Eagles hooker Matt Parcell is set to sign for Leeds Rhinos as a replacement for the homesick James Segeyaro.

Parcell, 24, is currently contracted with the Sea Eagles until the end of the 2018 season, but Manly have informed Parcell he is free to talk with Leeds Rhinos, as Manly look to ease pressure on their tight salary cap.

The former Ipswich junior, made his NRL Debut for the Brisbane Broncos in Round 12 of the 2015 NRL season against the Canberra Raiders. He went onto play a further 5 games for the Broncos in that season.

At the end of the 2015 season, Manly signed Parcell on a 3-year-deal, in which he played 15 games for the Sea Eagles in his first year at the club, scoring two tries.

Leeds Rhino’s continue to look for a replacement for James Segeyaro who made the shock announcement that he would not return to England and play for Leeds, just months after re-signing on with the club until the end of the 2018 season.

The deal between Leeds and Parcell almost looks certain to happen and is expected to be announced before the Christmas break.

Parcell has played a total of 21 NRL games and is expected to continue his rugby league career in England.
