Talented young utility Connor Watson will join Wests Tigers in 2018
Watson, 21, will join the Wests Tigers on a 2-year deal believed to be worth $550,000 per season, with a third year option available in favour of the Tigers.
It is believed the Newcastle Knights offererd Watson a deal slightly less and to play a pivotal role in the halves, with the expectations to replace out-of-favour Trent Hodkinson.
The Tigers are understood to have sealed the deal when they offered him his preferred position at Fullback to replace the departing James Tedesco, who signed a lucrative deal with his current club the Roosters.
This completes a successful off-field signing spree by new coach Ivan Cleary, where the signing of Watson brings his tally up to 12 new faces for the 2018 season.
Watson is currently contracted to the Roosters until the end of the 2018 season, but are prepared to part ways with the young playmaker at the end of this season to relieve some of their salary cap pressures with the signing of James Tedesco.
Watson has made 28 apperances for the Sydney Roosters since making his debut for the club, in round 7 of the 2016 NRL season against the Penrith Panthers.
