The St George Illawarra Dragons have officially given Matt Dufty the ‘Green Light’ to talk to rivals clubs for a potential move for 2019.
Dufty, 22, is un-contracted until the end of 2019, the Dragons attempted to start the process of extending Dufty’s contract. However, the young fullback’s asking price is far beyond what the club is willing to pay and now are looking to offload him.
The Dragons are currently in negotiations with Parramatta Star Jarryd Hayne, whose contract re-negotiations have broken down with Parramatta and the Dragons are set to swoop on the two time Dally M winner, as a potential replacement in the No.1 jersey.
It is believed a number of Super League clubs are also showing plenty of interest in the speedster, but it is understood will find it hard to compete with his asking price.
The Raiders are said to be leading the charge for his signature for the 2019 season, but it is rumoured that Storm, Bulldogs and even Parramatta are circling for his services for next season.
Dufty made his NRL debut in 2017 and has scored 15 tries in 32 games for the club, but he appears to be on his way out with Canberra now entering the race for his services. It has also been reported that at least four Super League teams are understood to be interested in him.
