The Salary cap squeeze continue to Brookvale as Des Hasler looks to finalise his squad for the 2019 season.
One player Des Hasler is understood to have informed that he is free to look elsewhere in 2019 is Trent Hodkinson, who re-joined his old team after Cronulla granted him a release midway through his 2018 contract to sign with Manly on a 2-year contract.
Hodkinson failed to impress in his return back to Brookvale, starting in the halves from Round 3, but only to be later relegated to start from the bench from Round 16. He made 17 appearances for the Sea Eagles, scoring just two tries and three try assist.
The salary cap squeeze is now making the club and Des Hasler choose between Hodkinson and talented hooker Api Koroisau whose recent signing maybe already be in jeopardy, deu to the the fine handed down by the NRL for Manly’s self-reported salary cap breaches.
The club was fined $750,000, with $250,000 suspended, while chief operating officer Neil Bare and former chief executive Joe Kelly were deregistered for 12 months.
It is understood that Koroisau is a priority over Hodkinson and that Des Hasler is actively shopping him to rival NRL teams and Super League clubs.
