Sonny Bill Williams To Make Rugby League Return…..?

Reports have surfaced and the rumour mill has kicked into overdrive with the possibility of Sonny Bill Williams making a return to Rugby League.

Toronto Wolfpack owner David Argyle says the club are on the verge of signing one of the biggest names in rugby union and many are suggesting it could very well be Williams.

Many players have been linked with Canadian club on social media, but its seems that global sporting superstar Sonny Bill Williams is the name on everyone’s lips.

The 33-year-old left rugby league to return to the 15-man code in 2014, winning the 2015 World Cup with the All Blacks on English soil.

He has suggested in a number of interviews that he would like to finish his career in rugby league, having began his rugby league career with the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2004.

The Wolfpack owner has this to say about the big name signing;

“We’ve got some really exciting things coming up,” he said.

“Before the Rugby Union World Cup in Japan later this year, we will have one of the top five rugby players in the world (coming here).”

Toronto’s rise in rugby league has been a drastic one, having only played their first professional game in 2017.

Backed by mining billionaire Argyle, they nearly secured back-to-back promotions but were beaten in last year’s Million Pound Game by London Broncos.

But they have started this season with real intent as they set their sights on top flight rugby league under new head coach Brian McDermott.

Is Sonny Bill Williams set to become part of the Wolfpack revolution and appear for the transatlantic team next season, potentially in Super League?

Well, we will have to wait and see!
