The NRL season is just weeks away and we are back to rank the fullbacks from each team we believe will start in the No.1 jersey for round 1 of the 2019 season
16 Brendan Elliot (Sea Eagles)
Brendan Elliott will start at fullback with Tom Trbojevic injured for the start of the 2019 season. We aren’t expecting much from Elliot as he plays out of position and for that reason he kicks off our rankings.
15 Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (Raiders)
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad appears likely to get the first crack at the fullback spot opened up by Jack Wighton’s switch to the halves. Has impressed coach Ricky Stuart on the training paddock after making the cross from the Warriors.
14 Nick Meaney (Bulldogs)
There is still uncertainty around whether Will Hopoate or Nick Meaney will play fullback. We are going with the former Newcastle Knight product who was squeezed out of the club, with the arrivals of Kayln Ponga and Connor Watson. Meaney looking for an opportunity at first grade on a regular basis, signed with the Bulldogs. Watch this kid, as we believe he will rise up the ranking if given the opportunity.
13 Micheal Gordon (Titans)
How long he will maintain the No.1 jersey only time will tell, after the 2018 revelation – AJ Brimson will miss the season opener, still recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. The veteran No.1 could find him out of the side when Brimson is fit and healthy, but for Round 1 in 2019 we have him ranked at 13th as he can still get the job done.
12 Jahrome Hughes (Storm)
Ear-marked as a superstar of the future, fans again will be treated to Hughes’ brilliance after after Scott Drinkwater cruelly suffered a torn pec in the final trial. Can’t wait to see what this kid’s highlight reel will look like in 2019 – we expect him to rise in the rankings as the season progresses.
