We choose our AFL Fantasy Captains for round 5
1 Dyson Heppell
Dyson was outstanding last week and is up against the Lions this week. He previously averaged 104.7 against the Lions but I would expect to see a rapid increase. Dyson has a 127 average at the Gabba, which makes him a ideal candidate for captaincy. Currently only 2.48% of fantasy players have him as captain.
2 Dustin Martin
Dustin continued on with his 2016 form and up against the Pie Thursday night I wouldn’t expect to see that change. Averages 101.9 at the MCG and 104 against the Pies. Currently 7.7% of fantasy owners have him as captain and with the Thursday night loophole, he should be every fantasy owners vice captain.
3 Tom Rockliff
Tom looks like he is ready to assume the number 1 mantle. He is an accumulator of fantasy points who can consistently score big numbers. He is back at the Gabba this week against the Bombers where he averages 116.4 points a game. He also averages 133.5 over his career against the Bombers. Currently have 7.82% of fantasy owners selected as captain.
4 Patrick Dangerfield
Roughly 66,000 fantasy coaches have selected Patrick in their side and he is always been the safe play. Last week he roughly had 40% of coaches select him as captain and with a 112.9 average at Etihad Stadium and 110.3 against North Melbourne this week, he is still the safe option.
5 Andrew Gaff
Andrew is my dark horse for the week. Last week he was outstanding on the outside and as the link up man. Spending 90% of game time on the field will allow him to accumulate plenty of possessions and potentially another big week. Only 0.49% of fantasy players have selected him as captain, which will allow you to have a point of difference to potentially win you the round.
