Okoye had been diagnosed in March 2013 with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis and had been placed in a medically induced coma to stabilize recurring seizures.

He was cleared by doctors to play again, and is the first football player to attempt to come back from the disease.In April 2015, Okoye was released by the Cowboys.

Okoye is currently playing with the in the Saskatchewan Roughriders Candian Football League.

Jerod Mayo, LB (Tennessee) – New England Patriots

Mayo’s playing time dipped in the 2015 season, being behind Dont’a Hightower and Jamie Collins on the depth chart. 

In February 2016, Mayo posted a message on his Instagram account announcing his retirement, thanking the Patriots for the previous eight years.
