Sydney Rooster Centre Dale Copley could join the Gold Coast Titan by the end of this week.
Copley, 25, joined the Sydney Roosters at the end of the 2015 season, after spending over a decade at the Brisbane Broncos, who he began training with as a 13-year-old.
Now, just after just 12 months into his 3-year deal with the Rooster, it is understood that Rooster are continuing to shop Copley around.
Copley has been heavily linked with a move to the Gold Coast Titans, but it is believed the clubs cannot agree on terms on price, as the Titans want the Rooster to cover a percentage of his salary for the 2017 season.
Rooster officials are desperate to move Copley on, to free up some additional funds, which is believed to assist in landing their prize catch for the 2018 season – James Tedesco.
However, with just 47 days away before the Rooster run out on the field against, funny enough, the Gold Coast Titans, time could be the enemy in getting a deal done between the two clubs.
To add more drama into the possible deal the Brisbane Broncos have also shown some interest in bringing Copley back to Suncorp, as he was a victim of a tight salary cap ahead of the 2016 season.
But now, with the retirement of Corey Parker and the departure of Jarrod Wallace to the Titans, Wayne Bennett wants to continue to add depth to his squad to help cover the dreaded State of Origin period.
A decision on Dale Copley playing future is understood to be sorted out by the end of the week.
Copley made just 14 appearance for the Roosters in 2016, due to a pectoral injury he suffered in round 3 against the Queensland Cowboys, which kept him sidelined for 10 weeks. Copley scored 5 tries for the Roosters in 2016.
