The Green Bay Packers need a No.1 running back and aren’t closing the door on a Adrian Peterson move.
It is understood that the Green Bay Packers are considering the 32-year old running back and are expected to plan a visit for Peterson in the coming week.
Eddie Lacy’s departure to Seattle, leave a hole in coach McCarthy running game and Peterson could most definitely fill the Packers needs in that area.
Peterson played just three games last season for the Vikings, after a knee injury against the Packers in Week 2 crippled his season. Peterson made his return later in the season but was heavily restricted in what he could do.
The issue for the Packers is the 7× Pro Bowl and future Hall of Famer, duralibility going forward and the price tag he is willing to play for in 2017.
Green Bay Packers Coach Mike McCarthy had this to say about his running back vacancy at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix last week.
“I think you look at all those guys,”.
“It’s no secret what’s available in the draft. The numbers are really good there. Personally, I think the world of Adrian. I think he’s obviously a great player, a Hall of Fame player”.
“I had a chance to be around him, not only to compete against him twice a year but at the Pro Bowls. He’s a class act. We’ll just see how it shakes out.”
“Adrian Peterson is obviously someone we have great respect for, obviously playing him the number of times that we have, but we’re trying to improve our offense all the time,” McCarthy added.
“So as far as what’s going on, we don’t really discuss those things publicly, but you know, I think it’s obvious if you look at our depth chart. We have two running backs on our depth chart — two healthy running backs — so we’re going to have more running backs.
“I don’t know when they’re going to get there, but we will have more running backs come the middle of May — I can promise you that.”
Could Adrian do the unthinkable for Viking fans and play for their arch rival in the Green Packers. Packers Fans would say this would be the ultimate payback for Brett Favre Playing the Vikings.
Only time will tell now
