Jamaal Charles is believed to be in talks with the Green Bay Packers on a potential 1-year deal.
The Green Bay Packers free agency period has not been the best, as they have not addressed their two biggest issues – Running Back and Cornerback – But the Washington Redskins are expected to look to veteran running back in Jamaal Charles.
The Packers signed Super Bowl Tight-End in Martellus Bennett on a 3-year deal which indicates that the Packers are going to once again rely on Aaron Rodgers and the passing game more then ever in 2017.
The Departures of Eddie Lacy (Seattle) and TJ Lang (Detroit) create holes in the Packers offense but a strong bodied back like Jamaal Charles could ease the hurt along with change of pace back Ty Montgomery.
Now the Packers want to improve their offense and believe a Jamaal Charles, could be worth the risk. His value continues to drop with every day he is available in free agency and his price as it stands right now, which would be around $3-5 million per season, could be worth the punt.
Charles, 30, is coming off two serious knee injuries which have taken their toll on the veteran back. The biggest question mark about Charles at this point is, whether or not he will be able to return to the field as the dominating player of old.
The Packers are expected to put Charles through a strenuous physical to earn the team’s trust. But if passes with flying colors and can get back to his old self, then it could end up being a steal for the Green Bay Packers.
