Julius Thomas is set to become a Miami Dolphin in a trade which will send Branden Albert to the Jacksonville Jaguars
At the end of the 2014 season, Julius Thomas signed a 5 year, $46,000,000 contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including a $6,000,000 signing bonus, $24,000,000 guaranteed. An average annual salary of $9,200,000, something the Broncos did not want to match in free agency.
Thomas first two seasons in Jacksonville have not gone as planned, with injuries keeping the talented tight end 21 starts out of a possible 32.
Now, with the Jaguars interested in Branden Albert, to improve the protection for their quarterback Blake Bortles a trade is believed to have been agreed in principle, with both Teams and players agreeing to the possible trade.
Albert signed a five-year, $47 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in 2014, so both contracts are similar in length and money, some restructuring will be required for both contracts.
The trade is waiting to be given the green light by the NFL before both the Jaguars and Dolphins can sign off on the deal.
