NRL Club the Gold Coast Titans are believed to have won the battle to sign St Helens’ young gun Joe Greenwood on a 3-year deal.
Greenwood, 23, has made 77 appearances for Super League giants St Helens’ since making his debut back in 2012.
The Titans were battling fellow NRL club the Newcastle Knights for the services of the young talented back-rower, as his former coach Nathan Brown tried to lure him down under to the Knights.
Greenwood who is contracted with the Saints until the end of the 2017, will join the Titans on a 3-year deal.
Saints Coach Kerion Cunningham has this to say about the Gold Coast Titans signing of Greenwood.
“It doesn’t surprise me if the Titans are interested. Joe is an up-and-coming future England international and if I was in the NRL and had pots of money, I would be looking at all the best English talent myself”
“The only thing which frustrates me in cases like this, where you’ve nurtured a kid from 12 to 13 years of age, is that there is going to be management involved. “Joe recruited a new manager last year and if he decided, if this is the case, he wants to move the player then we can’t do much about it.
Joe Greenwood has scored 26 tries for the Saints in 77 appearances for the club.
