North Queensland Cowboys v Canberra Raiders

Wow, if this is what to come for the rest of the round then look out 2017. Once again Johnathan Thurston and his Cowboys were involved in a dramatic gold point clash, this time against Ricky Stuart’s Raiders side.

A game that was tied after the full 80 minutes, it took a Thurston attempted drop goal that hit the cross are and remained in touch and a Gavin Cooper was able to beat his captain to score the winning try. Like I said; WOW!

Gold Coast Titans v Sydney Roosters

A first half onslaught by the Roosters set up the victory. The Slow starting Titans showed some heart in the 2nd half but a hat-trick to Latrell Mitchell was just too much for Neil Henry’s Titans outfit.

Warriors v Newcastle Knights

A hat-trick to David Fusitu’a and a try to Ryan Hoffman in the 73rd minute was enough to hold off a brave Newcastle Knights outfit, that looked much improved from their 2016 performance. The Warriors held on to take the points with a 26-22 victory.

Manly Sea Eagles v Parramatta Eels

The perfect way to finish off Round 1 was a Sunday match between the Sea Eagles and the Eels and it did not disappoint. It was the Corey Norman show who lead his Eels to victory with a 20-12 to win.
