Pierre Garcon has agreed to terms in principle and will Join the San Francisco 49ers in 2017
Garcon, 30, had been hoping the Washington Redskins would resign him and he would finish his career in Washington, but the Redskins could not agree to a deal with Garcon and have no option but to let him walk.
The legal tampering period began Tuesday allowing teams to begin negotiations with upcoming free agents.
The 49ers recently released veteran wideout Torrey Smith and have upto a $100 million in cap space to play with. Garcon is believed to be the first on their list and the former round 6 selection from Mount Union is believed to have agreed to a deal in principle, that will see Garcon receive close to $16 million in his first year of his contract.
Garcon played all 16 games in 2016 and finished the season with 79 receptions, went for over 1000 yards (1041) and finding the end zone on 3 occasions.
The Redskin fans will be disappointed that they let their most consistent receiver and will now being hoping that a Garcon departure means DeSean Jackson will remain in Washington.
