Todd Carney has given up on a NRL return and has signed with Salford for the 2017 Season.
Carney, 30, returned to Australia hoping to resurrect his NRL career, but any hope Carney had was road-blocked by the NRL integrity unit.
So the former New South Wales halfback and 2010 NRL Dally M Medal winner will now return to English Super League in 2017.
Carney has spent the last two season with French Rugby League club Catalan Dragons, but was released by the club after making 33 appearances for the Dragons in Super League.
Red Devils CEO Ian Blease said: “Todd will be a vital part of our jigsaw and is a real statement of our intent. He is a world-class player and match-winner.
“We are delighted to get his signature and are greatly looking-forward to his arrival for the start of season.
