It is understood that Shaun Fensom is set to sign a 2-year deal with North Queensland Cowboys from 2017.
Fensom, 28, is set to end his 139 game playing career with the Canberra Raiders and make the move north.
Fensom fell to the bottom of impressive Raiders forward pack that included the likes of Shannon Boyd, Josh Papalii, Junior Paulo, Iosia Soliola and Elliot Whitehead.
One of NRL’s true workhorses of the competition has been heavily linked to a move to Newcastle Knights since the 2016 season ended, but it is believed Fensom rejected the tabled offer from the Knights and will join the Cowboys in 2017.
Fensom will help the Cowboys cover some of the loss that James Tamou who joined the Panthers and the sudden retirement of Ben Hannant leaves in the forward pack
Fensom has made 139 appearances in the NRL, since making his debut with the Canberra Raiders in round 5, 2009, a 24-14 win over the Cronulla Sharks.
The Cowboys are expected to make the announcement of their new signing next week.
