Gary Ablett requested a trade at the end of the the 2016 season, but it was declined by the Gold Coast Suns, but is 2018 the year Gary Ablett becomes a Cat again?
Ablett, 32, is believed to have a burning desire to return to the club where he played 192 games, kicked 262 goals and won 2 premierships with and all signs point to 2018, where it could come a reality.
It is understood Gary Ablett and his wife Jordan have placed their $2 million Gold Coast home the market, the home Ablett has been living in for the last six years.
It is also reported that Ablett has informed Geelong officials that he would be more then willing to take a pay-cut to finish his career where it all begun.
At the end of the 2010 season, Ablett signed a five-year contract with the new Gold Coast Football Club valued at more than $10 million and entered the first season in the 2011 AFL season. Ablett was named as the Gold Coast’s inaugural AFL captain.
Ablett signed a 3-year contract extension at the end of the 2015 season, keeping him on the Gold Coast until the end of the 2018 season, but it is not understood he wants to return home as soon as he can, even requesting a trade at the end of the 2016 season.
On-going Shoulder injuries have restricted Ablett just to 20 games over the past two season and he is believed to have told family and friends close to him, he wants to return back to Melbourne.
This Story will linger all season and will not go away until confirmation at the end of the 2017 trade period.
