Huddersfield managed just six wins in their 2016 campaign and finished bottom of the table. We expect the Giants are in for another tough season ahead.

Giants head coach Rick Stone improved his squad slightly after the Bradford Bulls went into liquidation and the Giants were able to sign free agents second-rower Alex Mellor and talented young hooker Adam O’Brien. Both joined former team mates Paul Clough, Lee Gaskell and Dale Ferguson who had signed with the Giants at the end of 2016.

The Departures of club legend Eorl Crabtree, Craig Huby and Scott Grix will leave holes in Stone’s squad that he has been unable to adequately find replacement for as of yet.

We predict that the Giants will be fighting hard for their Super League survival and are one of our favourites to make an appearance in the Million Pound Game.

Widnes had hoped that they would continue their climb up the standings in 2017, but, that was before the shock departure of England international and club captain Kevin Brown to Warrington on a 2-year deal.

The Vikings relied heavily upon Brown and with his departure the bulk of the workload will now fall upon 22-year old Tom Gilmore. A talented young player in his own right, but will use 2017 to learn and gain much needed experience at the top level and should become a better player because of it.

Denis Betts managed to get his team to 7th position on the table in 2016, but with out key player-maker Kevin Brown gone and a knee injury to Joe Mellor, who is expected to see him miss at least the first month of action, Things are going to be tough

We expect the Vikings to slide back down the table this season.
