The Big 4 Interested in Ryan Hoffman for 2018

The Former Warriors captain Ryan Hoffman will depart the club at the end of 2017 season.

NZ Warriors veteran Ryan Hoffman is expected to return to English Super League in 2018, after Warriors informed him he is not a required player in 2018.

Hoffman, 33, joined the Warriors from the Melbourne Storm at the end of the 2014 on a 3-year deal which was believed to be worth $1.6 million.

Hoffman was named the club captain in 2016 after Simon Mannering stepped down from the role. Hoffman became the second Australian to have captained the New Zealand club, after Steve Price.

Hoffman had a successful career at the Storm where he played 245 games and was part of their grand final success.

In 2011, Hoffman signed with Super League club Wigan Warriors where he made 34 appearances and scored 11 tries for Wigan. Hoffman played for Wigan in the 2011 Challenge Cup Final at second-row forward, helping the side to defeat Leeds 28-18.

It is understood Hoffman has always had a desire to return to the Super League to finish out his rugby league career.

We can confirm that the Super League big four, Wigan, Warrington, Leeds and St Helens have made contact with Hoffman’s manager already, checking on his availability for the 2018 season.

Wigan Warriors are expected to be the front-runners for his services, as a return to where he has had club success may interest the 314 game veteran. It is believed though Leeds and St Helens are willing to offer Hoffman a 2-year deal with a 3 year option.
