The New Zealand Warriors reject Charlie’s Gubbs request to be released from his 2017 contract.
Gubb, 26, requested a early release from his 2017 contract, to sign with a rival NRL club or Super League club to improve his financial income.
It is believed Cronulla Sharks were willing to sign Gubb on a much improved salary. But the Warriors have denied his request and have informed Gubb he is a required player for the 2017 season and possible beyond, but are not willing to re-negotiate his current contract.
Manly and Melbourne are two other interested parties that are circling for Gubb’s signature, but it looks like they will now have to wait 12 months.
Gubb is entertaining the idea of quiting the NRL and make the jump to the English Super League to improve his financial conditions.
Gubb has played 29 games for the Warriors since making his debut back in the 2013 season.
