Will Zillman Looks to English Super League

Will Zillman is expected to depart the Titans before the start of the 2017 NRL Season.

GOLD Coast coach Neil Henry has given the Zillman permission to negotiate with rival NRL clubs or clubs from overseas and has made it clear to Zillman that he is not guaranteed a spot his top 17 in 2017. The Titans are looking to create some salary cap space to secure the signature of Ryan James on what is expected to be a long-term million dollar deal.

The 30-year-old Co-Captain, who is contracted to the Titans under the end of next season, has been told by Henry that he would honour his contract but  has also made it clear he will not stand in the way if Zillman could secure more lucrative deals in the NRL or overseas.

With Jarryd Hayne being recruited to the club and owning the No.1 jersey for the Titans, there leave little room for Zillman in coach Henry’s squad. The news has come as a blow to Zillman, who was named co-captain only at the start of the season and had ambitions to become a 10-year Titan, but looks very unlikely to happen.

Zillman is expected to test the market overseas in the English Super League and finish his career playing in England.

Zillman has played 156 NRL games and has scored 51 tries since making his debut for the Canberra Raiders in the 2006 season.
